Loyal Hope - Styled Shoot

Late last year we were thrilled to be asked to send some dapper wares up north to Brisbane for a styled photo shoot. The theme was a retro tiki-inspired wedding, blending vintage and modern so couldn’t have been more perfect for our Huntley bow tie!

A huge thanks to Cara from St Aisle for co-ordinating and styling. Keira’s photography is spot on and the venue, Loyal Hope looks like our kind of space!

Polka Dot Groom

A huge thanks to our friends at Polka Dot Groom for taking the time to talk to us about our mission to bring the bow tie back! Polka Dot Groom is an offshoot of the every popular Polka Dot Bride website and offers an array of helpful hints and tips for grooms preparing for their big day.

Here's some of the advice we offered in the article:

“We recommend selecting a colour that works with the rest of the wedding theme, be it taking a colour from the bridesmaid’s dresses, flowers or decorations.

“If you go with self-tie bow ties, be sure to provide your collar measurement to ensure a snug fit.

“Lastly and especially if you’re new to tying a bow tie, be sure to practice tying beforehand or have someone handy to help out, just in case your nerves get the better of you on the big day!”

Transitions Collection

Transitions Collection

The Transitions Collection features six themes with each containing a range of bowties, ties, pocket squares and cufflinks with all fabrics sourced from Phillips Shirts, the longest running menswear label in Melbourne.

The closing of the Phillips Shirts factory and shop on Little Lonsdale Street created an opportunity for the Dapper team to buy up big from the iconic labels factory.

“We snapped up what we could in the hope to preserve our own little snapshot of Melbourne’s rag trade history,” George says.

“We hope to continue the legacy of Phillip Phillips and Alex Peterfreund, the original dapper chap’s of Melbourne, along with Andrew Peterfreund, son of Alex, who has run Phillips since 1988.”
